Bikram Yoga is a strenuous yoga class suitable for all levels from total beginner to more advanced, of any age or level of fitness. Bikram Yoga consists of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercise and is conducted in a room heated to 39 degrees. The heat eases your muscles and joints, allowing you to stretch more safely with a faster recovery time, causing you to sweat and helping with detoxification.
Bikram Yoga is a beginner's class in which you are encouraged to take at your own pace but it is normal to feel quite overwhelmed during your first few classes, particularly your first class. At those times when you do feel overwhelmed, sit down as much as you need then join back in when you are ready.
Sweating in a hot room and sitting on the floor is better than staying at home on the couch. You will be surprised at how good you can really feel inside and out even after your first class.
